Open Quote I am very disappointed with the poor education and the lack of tolerance for diversity in this school. There are many incidences of racism, bigotry and hateful attitudes toward the LGBTQ community which the administration has done the bare minimum to address. The very conservative oppressive atmosphere of this school breeds unacceptable attitudes and behaviors of students that makes it appear we are still living in the 1970s. My son graduated from there, and my daughter has decided to change to a different School district altogether for her last two years of HS because of the very exclusive intolerant views of the majority of the students. If you aren’t Caucasian, conservative and of a Christian faith you will be excluded, ridiculed and not fit in. And I’m some caused verbally abused if not physically abused. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of effort the administration has put into providing education and awareness to enhance tolerance and understanding of diversity. If they put even a tenth of an effort into a cultural diversity awareness program compared to what they do for their sports and music programs, there might actually be some movement in the right direction. For now HHS seems to be a continued breeding ground for allowing and condoning hate and discrimination. Close Quote

Open Quote Great parent involvement, supportive administration and focused faculty and departments. I currently have two children attending Highland and one that graduated two years ago. We have experienced much of what Highland has to offer from sports to music to clubs as well as their focus on academic success. The school is focused on leading the district and being a pioneer in technology. This is a large school and the school population represents the school boundaries with a good mix of different sized homes in different subdivisions. The school has very active boosters supporting over 16 clubs/sports/organizations and it creates an environment where students have opportunities to participate and succeed. I highly recommend Highland High School! Close Quote
