Summary

Flagstaff High School is a public high school located in Flagstaff, Arizona, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 1,625 students. It is part of the Flagstaff Unified School District, which is ranked 197 out of 289 districts in Arizona and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Flagstaff High School has been ranked between 123 and 208 out of Arizona high schools over the past 10 years, with a consistent 3-star rating from SchoolDigger. The school's performance varies across different student subgroups, with strong rankings for military-connected and homeless students, but lower rankings for Asian, multi-racial, and low socioeconomic status students. Flagstaff High School's four-year graduation rate has ranged from 77.5% to 91.5% in recent years, with dropout rates between 2.3% and 6.1%. Academically, the school's proficiency rates on state assessments are generally below the state and district averages in science, English language arts, and mathematics.

Compared to nearby schools, Flagstaff High School's performance is generally on par with or slightly better than its district counterpart, Coconino High School, but lags behind the higher-performing charter schools in the area, Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy and Northland Preparatory Academy. The school's declining funding and increasing class sizes over the past few years may be contributing to its academic challenges, and a more consistent and targeted approach to improving student learning could be beneficial.

Open Quote The teachers are top notch and the principal, Tony Cullen, really cares about the students and their families. The music program is excellent, especially the band & band director. My son is challenged academically & has made so many great friends at Flagstaff High School. He loves it there. Close Quote
