Summary

Rustic Oak Elementary in Pearland, TX, is a PK-4 school serving 645 students as part of the highly-rated Pearland Independent School District (Isd), which ranks in the 92nd percentile statewide. This school has a strong track record of academic performance, earning a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger for four consecutive years, and it has consistently ranked in the top 20% of Texas elementary schools. One of its standout features is exceptional support for Gifted and Talented (GT) students, who ranked in the 98th percentile statewide in the 2025-2026 school year, and for English Language Learners (ELL), who ranked in the 92nd percentile in 2024-2025. Additionally, Rustic Oak achieves strong results with a lean budget—its per-student spending of $9,356 is lower than nearby schools like Wedgewood Elementary ($10,045) and C J Harris Elementary ($10,271)—making it a highly efficient option for families.

Compared to nearby schools, Rustic Oak offers a reliable, high-quality education without the ultra-competitive pressure of some neighbors. For instance, Shadycrest Elementary (1.64 miles away) has been a consistent 5-star school, ranking in the 93rd-95th percentile, while C J Harris Elementary (3.15 miles away) has fluctuated between 3 and 4 stars. Rustic Oak’s steady 4-star performance positions it as a stable choice. The school also excels in 4th Grade Math, consistently outperforming both district and state averages—for example, in 2025-2026, 68.66% of students were proficient, compared to the district's 68.51% and the state's 49.28%. However, 3rd Grade Math is a relative weakness, with only 51.56% of students proficient in 2025-2026, which is 11 percentage points below the district average, suggesting a potential "math dip" in the transition to 3rd grade.

While Rustic Oak remains a strong school, there are some trends to monitor. Its overall state ranking has gradually slipped from the 94th percentile in 2018-2019 to the 83rd percentile in 2025-2026, and performance for some student groups has declined. The school’s performance is more impressive when compared to schools with similar socioeconomic contexts, like Arlyne & Alan Weber Elementary in Clear Creek Independent School District (Isd), which it matches or exceeds in several key metrics. Nearby Friendswood Independent School District (Isd) schools, such as Windsong Elementary, operate in a different socioeconomic context with lower poverty rates, making Rustic Oak’s achievements particularly noteworthy given its resource efficiency.

Open Quote I would like to say that when I first came to Pearland I was excited to move into my new home. When I walked into Rustic Oak Elementary School I was highly disappointed with the office staff members. They never smiled, they never said please nor thank you, needless to say I did not feel welcomed. At first I thought well maybe it's just me overly thinking things but when I saw other people come in stating they were new to Pearland they gave them the same stinking attitude. These people walk around like robots "just doing their job". They act the same way towards the kids (no emotions). The only people that I have seen go out of their way to help, smile, or just say hello is the School Nurse and the Counselor. If I would need anything from Rustic Oak I would definitely go to the Mrs Hinshaw the counselor or Mrs Scott the nurse. I'm not saying all Pearland staff are the same because I have a child in Alexander Middle School and the staff is amazing. You feel the warmth as soon as you walk in that place and no matter what they are dealing with they don't show their frustration on you. I truly hope someone from Rustic Oak reads this and starts making a change. A smile is contagious. Close Quote
