Summary

Fort Worth Academy Of Fine Arts is a high-performing public charter school in Fort Worth, TX, serving 415 students in grades 7 through 12, and it stands out as an educational oasis in a region where most traditional public high schools struggle to meet state averages. This school consistently earns a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger and ranks in the top 10% of all high schools in Texas, a stark contrast to nearby schools like Paschal High School, which ranks in the 37th percentile, and Western Hills High School, which ranks in the 22nd percentile. With a graduation rate of 97% and a dropout rate of just 0.2%, compared to the Fort Worth Independent School District (Isd) average of 82.6% and 3.1%, this school offers a dramatically different academic experience for families.

The school’s crown jewel is its English Language Arts performance, with 95.59% of students proficient in English I and 95.16% in English II, nearly three times higher than most nearby schools. While math scores are a relative weakness—with 62.67% proficient in Algebra I compared to the state average of 54.03%—the school shows a remarkable science surge, with Biology scores consistently in the 83-91% range. The student-teacher ratio of 11.7:1 allows for individualized attention, far better than the 48.5:1 ratio at Texans Can Academy - Fort Worth Westcreek, and this small, focused environment appears to be a powerful equalizer for students from low socio-economic backgrounds, who rank in the 90th percentile statewide.

An interesting anomaly is the school’s performance for Gifted and Talented students, which ranks in the 13th percentile statewide, suggesting the curriculum is already so rigorous that the designation doesn’t capture a distinct advantage. Overall, Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts is not just a good school; it is a data-backed alternative for families seeking a high-achieving, safe, and academically rigorous environment, especially when compared to the surrounding Fort Worth Independent School District (Isd), which ranks in the 30th percentile statewide. For parents looking to avoid the struggles of under-resourced large high schools, this charter school offers a clear path to success.

Open Quote We have been at this school for 4 years now and my opinion has changed dramatically these last 2 years. We loved the school, the teachers, the arts very much the first 2 years. It all seemed balanced and worked together great. But now the academics are starting to suffer greatly! As they get older the material gets more difficult and needs more attention and time and that is definitely not happening. The teachers do not work with the students and parents concerning these problems, they are just pushed to the side or ignored completely. It is very sad becuase I thought I found a great school my daughter could stay at until a senior but now I am faced with the dilemma of finding a better school for highschool so that my daughter will be educated.
