About the Regents Common Core: As part of the Regents Reform Agenda, New York State has embarked on a comprehensive reform initiative to ensure that schools prepare students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in college and in their careers. To realize the goals of this agenda, changes are occurring in standards, curricula, and assessments. The Board of Regents adopted the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy and Mathematics at its July 2010 meeting and incorporated New York-specific additions, creating the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS), at its January 2011 meeting. As a result, New York State is deeply engaged in a revision of the current State assessment program to measure the New York State P-12 CCLS. Additional information on the Common Core Regents rollout and content can be found here

Open Quote I graduated from Fowler years ago. I am amazed that I was able to overcome the substandard education and the lazy apathetic teachers !!! I had a history teacher who literally would spend 45 minutes reading to the students from a text book -and I mean page after page and line by line !!!! Is this quality ??? Does that stimulate critical thinking??? Its time to raise the bar WAY UP !!!
I was abscent all the time and adverse to this robotic and boring education. I SOMEHOW managed to graduate from Syracuse University thanks to the HEOP Program. I later made my escape to Boston and earned a Masters Degree in Public Administraion from Boston University. The key is to raise the standards and prepare and STRONGLY encourage students to leave Syracuse for a prosperous life out of state !!! You owe it to these kids !! AW - San Francisco, CA Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
