Goldsboro stands out dramatically from nearby schools in academic performance and student engagement. In 5th Grade Science, Goldsboro achieved 90% proficiency, far exceeding Hamilton Elementary (76%) and Lake Mary Elementary (68%). In 3rd Grade ELA, Goldsboro's 81% proficiency is 23 points higher than Hamilton's 77%. One notable challenge is 5th Grade Math, where only 55% of students were proficient—a sharp drop from 73% in 4th Grade Math and a persistent weakness over several years. However, Goldsboro excels at challenging advanced learners, with 100% proficiency in 6th Grade Math for four consecutive years, likely reflecting advanced coursework for high-achieving 5th graders. The school has shown sustained improvement over the past decade, climbing from the 65th percentile in 2016-2017 to its current 87th percentile, with chronic absenteeism decreasing from 21.1% to 16.6% in just one year. This upward trajectory, combined with strong academic results and efficient spending, makes Goldsboro a standout choice for families in the Sanford area.

Open Quote Unfortunately Goldsboro Elementary completely failed my 4th grade child. They may have a super funded science program, and money to throw around for carnivals, but they could not explain why my child who had an IEP for Reading, regressed on his i-ready scores from the beginning of the year to the end. The principal said, "Perhaps he didn't try his best on his iReady as unfortunately many students this time of year do not". That would be fine for an isolated test/quiz but not for an entire years progression/regression. This school and the teachers there completely failed my son. Then they said, we will stay on top of it for 5th grade. Thank you but no thank you, I'll return my children to their zoned school where I know they will get a balanced education. They may be a science and math magnet school, but this can not be at the expense of our children's literacy. Close Quote
