This Privacy Policy explains how Claarware LLC ("Claarware," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit or use SchoolDigger.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information in the following ways:
- Information you provide. When you create a subscriber account, contact us, or sign up for our products, you may provide your email address and any details you choose to include in messages to us. SchoolDigger uses passwordless ("magic link") sign-in, so we do not store account passwords.
- Payment information. If you purchase a subscription or other paid product, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. Stripe collects and handles your card and billing details directly; we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. We retain limited records such as your customer identifier, subscription status, and transaction history.
- API account information. If you register for the SchoolDigger API (developer.schooldigger.com), we collect the information needed to issue and manage your API credentials and to monitor usage.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically collect technical information when you access the Site, including your IP address, browser type and settings, device and operating system information, referring pages, the pages you view, and the dates and times of your requests. This information is recorded in server logs and used to operate, secure, and improve the Site.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We and our third-party partners use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to remember your preferences, measure traffic, and serve and personalize advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings and through the consent tools described below.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to operate and maintain the Site; provide the school data, rankings, and other content and services you request; create and manage subscriber and API accounts; process payments and manage subscriptions; respond to your inquiries; monitor and protect the security and integrity of the Site, including detecting and preventing automated abuse, scraping, and fraud; analyze usage so we can improve our content and features; serve and measure advertising; and comply with our legal obligations.
ADVERTISING AND ANALYTICS
The Site is monetized in part through display advertising provided by Ezoic Inc. Ezoic and its advertising partners may collect and process information about your visits to deliver and measure personalized ads. Ezoic also provides the consent management platform used on the Site; where required by law, you will be asked for your advertising and analytics consent preferences, which you can change at any time using the privacy or consent control on the Site. For more detail about the data Ezoic and its partners collect, see Ezoic's privacy policy at https://www.ezoic.com/privacy-policy/.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers to collect usage information; we operate it in a consent-aware mode that respects your choices. You can learn more about Google's practices at https://policies.google.com/privacy and opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as follows: with service providers who perform functions on our behalf, such as payment processing (Stripe), advertising and consent management (Ezoic), analytics (Google), and hosting and infrastructure providers; when required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; to enforce our Terms of Use, protect the rights, property, or safety of Claarware, our users, or others, and to investigate fraud or abuse; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Note that the advertising practices described above may, under certain privacy laws, be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising purposes; you can opt out using the consent control on the Site.
DATA RETENTION
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Site and our services, maintain your account, comply with our legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Server logs and analytics data are retained for a limited period consistent with operational and security needs.
DATA SECURITY
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES AND RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete it, to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale"/"sharing" of personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise advertising and analytics choices, use the consent control on the Site. To exercise other rights, contact us via the Contact Us page, and we will respond as required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The Site provides information about schools and is intended for a general audience, primarily parents, educators, and researchers. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
