Summary

Loyal Heights Elementary School is a well-regarded public elementary school serving 527 students in grades K-5 within the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle, operating as part of the Seattle School District No. 1.

The school maintains a strong academic reputation, ranking in the 88th percentile statewide for the 2024-2025 year, though this represents a slight, gradual decline from historically higher rankings. It finds itself in a very competitive area, performing solidly but ranking in the middle among several nearby high-achieving schools like West Woodland Elementary and Greenwood Elementary, while outperforming others such as Viewlands Elementary. Notably, the school has a much larger enrollment and a lower percentage of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch compared to many of its neighbors.

Key areas for parents to consider include a significant drop in math proficiency in 5th grade, a recent and dramatic one-year decline in its ranking for serving Special Education students, and science scores that trail its performance in English and math. Despite higher per-student spending than some higher-performing peers, the school's outcomes are slightly lower, and it shows interesting year-to-year shifts in performance gaps between male and female students.

Open Quote Our son is now in the second grade at Loyal Heights Elementary School. We're very happy with the school, the teachers, the administration and especially the other students and parents. It's such a privilege to be part of this excellent public school community. No need for "charters", or other "privatization" schemes here. We respect our teachers and the organization that strengthens their voice, enhances their effectiveness and improves education for our children. Loyal Heights Elementary is a superb example of the best in local, community schools. And most parents at our school feel the same way. Close Quote
