Forman Elementary

Public Grades PK, KG-5
Summary

Forman Elementary is a public elementary school in Plano, Texas, serving 539 students in grades PK-5. Despite being part of the Plano Independent School District, which is ranked 230 out of 961 school districts in Texas, Forman Elementary has consistently underperformed academically compared to the district and state averages.

Forman Elementary's academic performance on STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) tests is significantly lower than the district and state averages across all grade levels and subjects. For example, in 2024-2025, the percentage of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Forman Elementary who were proficient or better in STAAR Reading was 52.08%, 35.56%, and 35.19%, respectively, compared to the district averages of 65.78%, 64.21%, and 70.07%. The school's performance is particularly weak in mathematics, with only 29.17%, 27.27%, and 24.07% of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, respectively, being proficient or better, compared to the district averages of 58.46%, 56.82%, and 62.30%.

Interestingly, nearby schools like Hickey Elementary and Stinson Elementary consistently outperform Forman Elementary on STAAR assessments, despite having varying student demographics and resource allocations. This suggests that effective instructional strategies and resource utilization, rather than just input measures like funding and staffing, may be the key factors in driving academic success at the school level.

Open Quote This school knows there is a high percentage of children receiving reduced price /free lunches, so obviously there is a high need for parents to be diligent in their work ethics. Yet this school consistently schedules parent events during the regular work hours, not after work so that parents can attend without attending unpaid. Close Quote
