Summary

Evers Elementary is a public elementary school in San Antonio, Texas, serving 581 students in grades PK-5. It is part of the Northside Independent School District, which is ranked 503 out of 961 districts in the state.

Evers Elementary has seen a decline in its statewide ranking over the past decade, dropping from a high of 1,103 out of 4,320 Texas elementary schools in 2014-2015 to its current ranking of 3,487 out of 4,651 in 2024-2025. The school consistently underperforms the district and state on STAAR test scores, with proficiency rates significantly lower than average, particularly in 4th and 5th grade math and 5th grade science. Additionally, Evers Elementary has a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, at 68.5% in 2023-2024, which is higher than the district and state averages.

Interestingly, nearby schools within the Northside Independent School District, such as Hatchett Elementary, Timberwilde Elementary, and Lewis Elementary, generally perform better than Evers Elementary on STAAR tests, despite also having higher percentages of economically disadvantaged students. This suggests that factors beyond just student demographics may be contributing to the academic performance differences.

Open Quote My son attended Evers for Kindergarten and First Grade. I was extremely happy with the school! It had a great community atmosphere. His teachers really challenged the kids and the principal was always visible and well-known to everyone. Unfortunately we moved after that, but my son felt he was way ahead of his grade level at his next school. I would have no qualms about sending my children back to Evers if we had the chance!
