Summary

Waverly Park Elementary is a PK-5 school in Fort Worth, TX, serving 639 students as part of the Fort Worth Independent School District (Isd), where about 77% of students come from low-income backgrounds.

Waverly Park’s overall performance has declined over the past decade, currently ranking in the 27th percentile statewide. This places it in the bottom third of Texas elementary schools, though it is not the lowest-performing school in its immediate area. For example, it outperforms Western Hills Elementary (6th percentile) but is significantly outperformed by nearby Benbrook Elementary (80th percentile) and Ridglea Hills Elementary (61st percentile). A key differentiator is math proficiency: Waverly Park’s 3rd-grade math scores (29.55%) are roughly 20 points lower than Benbrook (47.37%) and Ridglea Hills (48.28%). The school also shows an unusual pattern in subgroup performance, with Hispanic students (47th percentile) and special education students (40th percentile) performing much better than White students (9th percentile) and male students (17th percentile).

Despite the downward trend, there are signs of recent improvement. In the 2025-2026 school year, Hispanic students jumped from the 24th to the 47th percentile, special education students from the 11th to the 40th percentile, and female students from the 16th to the 38th percentile. Historically, the school’s “At Risk” students ranked in the 63rd percentile in 2021-2022, suggesting effective supports that may not have been sustained. The competitive landscape is a major factor: high-performing options like Fine Arts Academy (in White Settlement Independent School District (Isd)) and Benbrook Elementary likely draw families away, compounding challenges. Per-student spending ($10,713) is mid-range compared to neighbors, indicating that the school’s struggles are more about instructional strategies and the impact of concentrated poverty than funding alone.

Open Quote As a parent at this school I'm highly disappointed with the principal and staff. They treat students poorly and disrespect parents they dont like. I been involved with PTA and being a volunteer I've seen so much. Teachers belittle students because of race and financial status as a parent who stands up for what is right I've been outcasted so I'm using my voice to speak up on these injustices. Close Quote
