Summary

Diamond Hill Elementary is a PK-5 campus in the Fort Worth Independent School District (Isd) serving 482 students in a high-poverty area, where over 94% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

This school is in the midst of a remarkable turnaround. After ranking in the bottom 12-13% of Texas elementary schools for several years, Diamond Hill jumped to the 45th percentile statewide in the 2025-2026 school year—a massive leap of over 30 percentile points. The most exciting news is for parents of 5th graders: 70% of 5th graders are now proficient in math, which is nearly 30 percentage points higher than the district average and 22 points higher than the state average. This is the highest math proficiency rate among all nearby schools, including the top-ranked Riverside Applied Learning Center, where only 44% of 5th graders are proficient in math. In 5th grade reading, 58.62% of Diamond Hill students are proficient, outperforming the district average by nearly 9 points.

However, the school's success is concentrated in 5th grade. In 3rd and 4th grades, reading proficiency is much lower (around 17-19%), creating a significant gap within the school. This suggests a strong 5th-grade teaching team or a successful intervention program that kicks in later. The school has also become highly effective at serving its low-income students, ranking in the 56th percentile statewide for this group—a dramatic improvement from the 10th percentile the previous year. While English Language Learners are still struggling (ranking in the 9th percentile), Special Education students have shown consistent improvement. The key challenge for Diamond Hill is to replicate its 5th-grade success across all grade levels to build a stable foundation of achievement school-wide.
