Summary

Savannah Lakes Elementary in Rosharon, TX, is a mid-sized school serving 785 students in grades PK-5 within the Alvin Independent School District (Isd), a district that ranks in the 76th percentile statewide. The school has a solid student-teacher ratio of 15.3:1 and spends about $9,813 per student, with 45.7% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. After a dip to a 2-star rating in 2023-2024, the school has rebounded to a 3-star rating and the 61st percentile in 2025-2026, showing a positive upward trend.

One of the most defining features of Savannah Lakes is its position as a "middle ground" in a high-performing district. While nearby Glenn York Elementary, Shirley Dill Brothers Elementary, and Pomona Elementary all boast 5-star ratings and rank in the 94th to 96th percentiles, Savannah Lakes offers a different academic profile. The school also sits on the border of two very different districts; nearby Rosa Parks Elementary and Walter Moses Burton Elementary in the Fort Bend Independent School District (Isd) are 1-star schools, meaning Savannah Lakes outperforms its immediate neighbors to the north and west but trails its peers to the east and south.

Despite its overall average ranking, the school shows notable strengths. It earned 4-star ratings for its work with African American and Hispanic students, and its effectiveness with low socio-economic status students jumped from the 50th to the 70th percentile recently. A fascinating anomaly is the school's performance in 6th-grade math, where it posted proficiency rates of 86% to 100% over three years—far exceeding district and state averages—likely due to a strong program for accelerating advanced math students. However, the school faces a persistent challenge in upper-grade math, with 4th-grade math proficiency at just 33.57% compared to the district average of 56.7%, a gap that has been consistent over the past three years.

Open Quote My son loves going to school everyday. His teacher really cares about him. The Principal is always visible and available. He attends all PTO meetings, after school events and sometimes he holds the door open and greets the kids as they arrive at school in the morning. The PTO is awesome and is always coming up with ideas to assist the teachers and admins. Close Quote
