Summary

James And Margie Marion Elementary is a K-6 school in Allen, TX, serving 688 students as part of the highly-rated Allen Independent School District (Isd), which ranks in the 92nd percentile statewide.

While Marion Elementary is a solid school with a favorable student-teacher ratio of 14.7:1, it is a "middle of the pack" performer in a high-performing district. Nearby schools like Beverly Cheatham Elementary (99th percentile) and Jenny Preston Elementary (97th percentile) significantly outperform it. A key concern is a notable decline in math proficiency as students get older: 3rd-grade math proficiency is 63.22%, but it drops to just 53.39% by 6th grade. This is a stark contrast to Cheatham Elementary, where math proficiency improves from 70.83% to 86.79% over the same grades. Additionally, 5th-grade science proficiency was only 27.43% in 2024-2025, well below the district average of 46.57% and even below the state average. The school also shows a specific challenge in 4th-grade math, which has been the lowest-scoring grade for three consecutive years.

On a positive note, Marion Elementary excels in serving specific student groups. Hispanic Students rank in the 92nd percentile (5 stars) and Special Education Students rank in the 88th percentile (4 stars) for the 2025-2026 school year, indicating effective support systems. The school also serves a relatively affluent community, with only 18.75% of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch. For context, Robert L Puster Elementary in the neighboring Lovejoy Independent School District (Isd), just 2.22 miles away, is an academic powerhouse (99th percentile) with 93.52% 3rd-grade math proficiency, highlighting the significant impact of district performance. Overall, Marion Elementary is a good school, but it is not keeping pace with the rapid improvement seen in its top-tier neighbors.

Open Quote I have had 2 kids finish this school and I have one child there currently. This school has gone down hill over the last few years. administration is really unresponsive to requests. I have called numerous times to discuss some problems we are having usually with no return phone call. Most of the teachers are great and do care about the kids, but a few shouldn't be teaching anywhere. If you do end up with one of these bad apples, good luck getting your child changed to a different class. Unless you get to be a home room mom or watchdog you can forget about doing anything at the school. (parties, events, etc..) Close Quote
