Summary

Bolin Elementary in Parker, TX, serves 605 students in grades K-6 as part of the highly-rated Allen Independent School District (Isd), and is located in a community where only about 22% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Bolin’s most standout feature is its exceptional program for Gifted and Talented students, which ranks in the 100th percentile statewide—a remarkable achievement that far exceeds any other metric for the school. The school also shines in 5th-grade mathematics, with 74.12% of students proficient compared to the district average of 65.51% and the state average of 47.38%. However, performance varies across student groups: while the school excels with African American students (88th percentile), it struggles more with Hispanic students (45th percentile) and Multi-racial students (43rd percentile). Additionally, there has been a sharp decline in serving English Language Learners, dropping from the 92nd percentile in 2024-2025 to the 35th percentile in the most recent data—a significant change that warrants attention.

Compared to nearby schools, Bolin sits in a diverse cluster of Allen ISD elementary schools. It is just 0.9 miles from Max O Vaughan Elementary, which ranks higher overall (91st percentile vs. Bolin’s 83rd) and outperforms Bolin in nearly every grade and subject, despite spending less per student ($8,761 vs. $10,399) and having a larger student-teacher ratio (16.3:1 vs. 14.5:1). Meanwhile, Alvis C Story Elementary, just 1.1 miles away, ranks in the 37th percentile. Bolin’s overall rank has settled into a 4-star rating since the pandemic, down from its pre-pandemic 5-star status, but it remains a solid, above-average performer in the area.

Open Quote Sad to say that I have seen first-hand the decline of this school. Leadership is lacking at best. Staff is more like employees than educators. Passion at this school has steadily declined. Not capable of administering a state mandated 504 program. More focused on pushing students to Special Education. AISD should be ashamed of what is happening at this campus. Close Quote
