Summary

Ambassadors Preparatory Academy is a small, public charter school in Galveston, TX, serving 167 students in grades PK through 8, and it has transformed from a low-performing school into a top-tier institution that now ranks in the 71st percentile statewide.

This school stands out for its exceptional middle school performance, with 94% of 6th graders proficient in reading and 100% of 8th graders proficient in math—nearly double the state averages. Its low student-teacher ratio of 10.4:1 allows for personalized attention, a stark contrast to nearby schools like Oppe Elementary (15.6:1) and Parker Elementary (14.3:1). While the school excels in reading, math, and social studies, 5th-grade science is a targeted weakness, with only 5% proficiency compared to the state average of 30%. The school also serves a high-needs population, with over 83% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, yet it has shown remarkable improvement, climbing from the bottom 10% of Texas elementary schools a decade ago to its current 4-star rating.

Compared to the surrounding Galveston Independent School District (Isd) (27th percentile) and Texas City Independent School District (Isd) (32nd percentile), Ambassadors Preparatory Academy is a consistent, high-performing option. While some Galveston ISD schools like Oppe Elementary (78th percentile) and Heights Elementary (96th percentile) perform well, others like Burnet Elementary (15th percentile) and Austin Elementary (16th percentile) struggle. The school’s small size and focused academic model make it a standout choice for families seeking strong middle school outcomes in the Galveston area.

Open Quote This school plagued with non-perform oriented teacher(s). Especially, the teacher(s) are very biased and favoring to their children. These teachers do not teach at all and only give homework to comply with minimum guidelines. The worst thing is, these teacher(s) make schemes to fail students and brand the students "F" grade. These teachers are capable of branding students with "F" (F grade) even who got above 90 percentile in STAAR test. These teachers ruin the confidence and enthusiasm of students. Extremely discouraging and neglecting professional attitude.
These teachers are very good at making their children get all "A+" grades and crush competition against their children. Simple example is, how the teacher have their children in the same class they teach. Is this not 'conflict of interest.
The science fare program, these teachers encourage junk projects (no science at all) rather than value and recognize true scientific project. These teachers mock and humiliate student(s) just by blatantly ignoring performance of student. Extremely self-serving and unethical teachers. Close Quote
