Summary

Uplift North Hills Prep Middle in Irving, TX, is a public charter school serving 502 students in grades 6-8 as part of the Uplift Education district, and it stands out as an academic powerhouse consistently ranking in the top 2% of Texas middle schools over the past decade. This school achieves elite-level performance that is dramatically higher than most nearby schools, creating a "performance island" in an area where many traditional public schools struggle. For example, while Uplift scores in the 98th percentile statewide, nearby schools like Crockett Middle (11th percentile) and Houston Middle (9th percentile) in Irving Independent School District (Isd) rank in the bottom 20% of the state. The only comparable local peer is Coppell Middle West in Coppell Independent School District (Isd), which also ranks in the 98th percentile.

What makes Uplift particularly impressive is its exceptional support for all students, including those who often face the greatest challenges. The school ranks in the 99th percentile for special education students, the 92nd percentile for English language learners, and the 90th percentile for students from low socio-economic backgrounds. This means that even the school's most vulnerable populations are outperforming their peers across the state. The school's STAAR test scores are dramatically above state averages—for instance, 7th grade reading proficiency is 92.22% compared to the state average of 54.04%, and 6th grade math proficiency is 77.3% versus the state average of 38.57%.

Uplift achieves these outstanding results with remarkable efficiency, spending less per student ($9,189) than many lower-performing neighboring schools, such as Field Middle ($11,512) in Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (Isd). The school's consistent excellence over time—never dropping below the 93rd percentile in the last decade—demonstrates a deeply ingrained culture of high performance. While the school excels with most subgroups, Hispanic student performance (76th percentile) is a relative area where the school could focus additional resources to ensure equity across all demographics.

Open Quote Both of my children graduated from North Hills, were admitted to highly ranked universities and are excelling because they were prepared. Often times you read where parents complain about the rigor of the curriculum and that their students grades dropped while attending North Hills, quite simply it isn't for everyone. It is a college prep school and does an outstanding job of preparing the kids for the next level. Look elsewhere if this isn't what you want for your child. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is the worst school in history of schools. If you want to go to a good high school, go to Jack E. Singley, Coppell High School or Plano High Schools instead! The ranking is all wrong. Smart students who frequently used to get A's, get B's now (but like high B's)! It's outrageously terrible! Close Quote
