Summary

Family School 32 is a public magnet elementary school in Yonkers, NY that serves grades PK-8 with 590 students. While the school has shown some gradual improvement in recent years, it continues to perform below average compared to other New York elementary schools, ranking between 1372-2084 out of around 2,400 schools over the past 10 years.

Family School 32's performance varies across different student subgroups, with male, African American, and English Language Learner students performing relatively well compared to their peers statewide. However, Hispanic, White, and low-income students at the school struggle, with proficiency rates on state assessments below the Yonkers district and New York state averages, especially in math. The school has relatively high per-student spending of around $26,600 and a student-teacher ratio of 20.2, which is higher than many nearby schools.

Interestingly, Casimir Pulaski School, Patricia A. Dichiaro School, and Kahlil Gibran School, all higher-performing magnet schools within the Yonkers City School District, are located very close to Family School 32. This proximity highlights the disparities in academic achievement within the district, which is ranked 663 out of 874 school districts in New York and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Open Quote This school sucks! The teachers don’t care about students and students are being called Niggers behind there backs! When you approach the teacher and ask what did you say? They reply “ OH NOTHING!” As if if you did not hear anything! This school is a disgrace to the community. I would not send your kids here.. Close Quote
