Open Quote Worked here as a part time art teacher and I must say, by far the worst teaching experience I’ve ever had. I had no support as a new teacher still in grad school. Art supplies were not provided adequately and the supply lady was always rude and had a nasty attitude. They expected giving 3 boxes of 12 or less markers in each would work with over 400 students. Every week or so the supplies would go missing and the art room was used by other instructors who didn’t know how to teach the students to take care of the supplies ! Students disrespected the visual arts which was greatly reflected in the school. The room looked a mess and uncared for with expired paint and ruined art supplies. If this school ever plans to improve their art programming, they need to do way more than just hiring someone to take all responsibility for change and improvement. The real changes happen when the art teacher has full support from the principal. Honestly, this school is a joke and it’s sad that no one there really cares enough to make better changes to improve the arts. The reason why every art teacher/art sub have left is because of the way the school runs and how there wasn’t a supportive art environment. It’s not the children’s fault or problem, but the school’s fault. The school has failed to provide opportunities and changes to create meaningful art experiences for students. Close Quote

Open Quote Extremely bad school. It doesn’t matter if your child is in the stigma program, special ed or regular classes at this school, they are all bad. Either the teachers are so new they don’t know what to or they have been there a while and don’t care. Grading is a disaster. The student body is a mess. Troubled kids are zoned in from gang neighborhoods. Do not send your child here. Close Quote

Open Quote It is a good, but not exceptional school. I.S.303 is the home of a large family, but with poor school infrastructure and building, lack of enough enrichment programs, as well as a few odd-ducks in the school administration, it isn't perfect. Close Quote
