Open Quote Bullying is a big unresolved problem here. Especially children with disabilities. Teachers are even unaware of their own students IEP which results in failing grades (these children have difficulty keeping up academically with peers due to medical diagnosis) and do not retest because they didn't know. My child was called gay, purposely excluded from groups, gang bullied and now sexually assaulted by another student and the superintendent thinks 1 day in school detention is warranted for this behavior. The 10 day suspension rule that is in their own policy handbook isn't given. Superintendent makes loop hole excuses well a teacher didn't actually witness it and well it was an open hand and not a closed fist as if it makes is acceptable. They make your child (the victim) sign contracts for good behavior without your consent and they are a minor. Side note: the bullies that were in that contract still continued to say mean things to my daughter because they refuse to move that girl out of her IEP class. So my daughter has to hear the rude comments and just "deal" with it. The school keeps the bullies around your child so she constantly feels unsafe and scared which plays a role in her grades because she is concentrating on the kids and not academics. Don't waste your time filing a HIB because there is always loop holes in which this school proves time and time again. The principal Mr. McCarthy and vice principal Mrs. Jones don't want to hear your complaints or concerns because they already know what they are going to do with your child without your consent. If you are a victim of bullying and because it doesn't fit in the HIB guidelines they still allow it to happen. This school has gone way down the drain. Superintended tells you that you need to repair the relationship with the administrators at the school where in fact he only knows so little it is only because he doesn't want to hear you either. He will validate that he sees how frustrated you are but does nothing to levitate it. You ask the President on the Board of Education for a meeting regarding numerous issues and all you get is an email asking for more info and he/she will look into it. Never offer a meeting. "May the odds be ever in your favor" if your choose to send your child here. I am looking to move my child out of this hell of school asap. I suggest not to go through the heartache, sleepless nights and hypertension that this school will cause you. Close Quote
