Open Quote My children attend 2nd grade and kindergarten at Yinghua. It is truly amazing at how the 'full immersion' style of teaching children at a young age works. My 2nd grader, who before starting kindergarten had never even heard mandarin spoken, now speaks it quite fluently and can write many characters and sentences (in mandarin). Native speakers have commented that his pronunciation is excellent with no accent. Furthermore, they teach Singapore Math, which is a much more logical and advanced way of teaching mathematics. He is already a full grade ahead of our local school in his math skills.
However, be aware, that it entails more work on the parents. The atmosphere is more strict. Children wear uniforms. They are expected to behave and listen. Also, it is a more rigorous academic atmosphere, both at school, and with homework. While my kindergartener only has homework on the weekends, my 2nd grader averages about 2 hrs each night (chinese, math, english). I feel that for the high quality of education my children are receiving, it is worth the extra work and sacrifices on my part. Close Quote
