Summary

Mandeville High School is a large, top-performing public high school in Mandeville, LA, serving 2,006 students in grades 9-12 within the highly-rated St. Tammany Parish school district, and it has earned a 5-star rating for four consecutive years.

Mandeville High School stands out for its exceptional academic performance across all subjects, consistently outpacing district and state averages by 10-20 percentage points. For example, 90% of students are proficient in Geometry, compared to 71% district-wide and 57% statewide. The school also boasts a 90% graduation rate and an impressively low 0.9% dropout rate, far better than the district and state averages. What truly sets Mandeville apart is its ability to support all students effectively—it earned 5-star ratings for every student subgroup, including those in special education and from low-income backgrounds. This inclusive success is rare and shows that the school’s excellence is systemic, not limited to any one group. Nearby, Lakeshore High School is a close rival, ranking #16 in the state just behind Mandeville’s #15, creating a healthy competition that benefits the entire community.

Compared to other area schools, Mandeville’s performance is striking. It significantly outperforms Covington High School (ranked #113) and Fontainebleau High School (ranked #29), both of which have higher chronic absenteeism rates (35.7% and 29.0%, respectively) versus Mandeville’s 18.0%. The contrast is even sharper with schools in the neighboring Tangipahoa Parish district, such as Hammond High Magnet School and Ponchatoula High School, where proficiency rates in Algebra I are less than half of Mandeville’s 87%. Additionally, Mandeville has achieved a remarkable 50% reduction in chronic absenteeism since the pandemic, dropping from 36.5% to 18.0% in just four years, reflecting a strong culture of attendance and student engagement.

Open Quote I have had three children graduate from Mandeville High. It was a wonderful experience for each of them. Mandeville has many clubs and organizations so students can get involved no matter their interests. The teachers are caring and the administration is great. I wouldn't trade our time at Mandeville for the world! Close Quote
