Summary

Evans Elementary School in Oviedo, FL, is a mid-to-large sized school serving 788 students from Pre-K through 5th grade within the highly-rated Seminole County School District, which ranks in the 89th percentile statewide. The school has consistently earned a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger, though its state ranking has seen a slight gradual decline from a peak of the 89th percentile in 2021-2022 to the 79th percentile in the most recent 2025-2026 school year.

One of the most notable differentiators for Evans is its higher chronic absenteeism rate of 19.3% in the 2023-2024 school year, which is the highest among its immediate Seminole County peers like Partin Elementary School (8.4%), Lawton Elementary School (11.3%), and Rainbow Elementary School (11.8%). The school also has a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students (37.82% eligible for free or reduced lunch) compared to most neighbors, such as Carillon Elementary School (27.23%) and Keeth Elementary School (29.16%). Despite these challenges, Evans’ academic performance remains competitive, with strong ELA scores (74-78% proficiency) and Science scores (74%) that are comparable to schools with more favorable demographics.

A unique and striking achievement is Evans’ perfect 100% proficiency rate in 6th Grade Math for the last four years of data, far exceeding the district (70%) and state (60%) averages. However, a systemic "5th Grade Math Dip" appears across all Seminole County elementary schools, with Evans’ 5th Grade Math proficiency at 56% in the 2025-2026 school year, mirroring similar drops at Stenstrom Elementary School (64%) and Partin Elementary School (55%). This suggests a district-wide curriculum challenge rather than a school-specific issue. Overall, Evans demonstrates resilient performance, effectively supporting its students despite higher absenteeism and economic disadvantage compared to its Seminole County peers.

Open Quote My Kindergarten student had a wonderful experience at the school. The teacher was very creative and made my little one's learning experience fun. She looked forward to

every day and was sad when the year ended.
As for the staff, they learned who I was very early on and made me feel at home. My only criticism would be the after school programs, which I felt were a little lacking. Close Quote
