Summary

Carillon Elementary School in Oviedo, FL, is a large, high-performing public school serving 907 students in grades PK through 5 within the highly-rated Seminole County School District. The school has earned a consistent 4-star rating from SchoolDigger for the past decade, with state rankings remaining remarkably stable between the 80th and 87th percentile. Carillon serves a relatively affluent community, with about 27% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, and benefits from a low chronic absenteeism rate of 12.8%—less than half the district rate and significantly lower than the state average.

Carillon’s math program is a standout differentiator, particularly in the upper elementary grades. While many nearby schools see a sharp drop in math proficiency between 3rd and 5th grade, Carillon maintains a much flatter and higher trajectory. For the 2025-2026 school year, 65% of Carillon’s 5th graders were proficient in math, notably higher than Lawton Elementary School (54%) and Partin Elementary School (55%). Even more impressive, 96% of Carillon’s 6th graders were proficient in math, compared to 70% for the district and 60% for the state, indicating exceptional preparation for middle school. The school also demonstrates efficient spending, with a per-student cost of $9,805—the lowest among its immediate comparison group—while achieving results on par with or better than schools spending significantly more, such as Walker Elementary School ($11,311 per student).

Carillon’s performance highlights a stark contrast with schools in the neighboring Orange County district, just a few miles away. For example, Riverdale Elementary and Bonneville Elementary have chronic absenteeism rates of 37-39% and proficiency rates in the 20-40% range. Among its Seminole County peers, Carillon is a top-tier performer, successfully maintaining high academic standards at a larger scale than schools like Rainbow Elementary School (536 students) and Evans Elementary School (729 students). One area for potential focus is a recurring dip in 4th-grade English Language Arts proficiency, which was 71% in 2025-2026 compared to 80% in both 3rd and 5th grades.

Open Quote Absolutely love this school! My son is in 5th grade and is extremely happy. He has never had any issues with bullying, and his teachers have been excellent. This school has a long track record of excellence, and it shows! Close Quote

Open Quote That review by the person who submitted it over 3 years ago hopefully has put the past behind them. The scores speak for themselves - 97% than the rest of the state, great student/teacher ratio, parents who really want to be involved with their kids education, and with the current low enrollment, it's easy to transfer your kids into this great school without a lot of difficulty. We technically live in the Evans school area, but that school is almost 900 kids versus the 650 that are in Carillon. It's not a hard decision. My son is about to go into 3rd grade, and has been going there his entire school career and has never ran into bullying issues. We haven't had any issues with either the past or current principal and the staff is very nice and willing to help. This school was almost on the chopping block and we're very grateful that Seminole County decided to rethink their closing policies. Close Quote

Open Quote Many bullies and the principal is so rude! She never has time for anything to do wit the kids or parents and she is outright mean to the kids. They play favorites and act like small children when they are supposed to be the adults teaching kids to act a certain way. I cannot wait to get my child out of this school. Moved to this area thinking it would HELP not be worse in teaching quality and snobby parents/teachers ans students! Close Quote
