Summary

Rainbow Elementary School in Winter Springs, FL, is a high-performing public school serving 729 students in grades PK through 5, part of the top-rated Seminole County School District. This school consistently earns top marks, ranking in the 91st percentile among all Florida elementary schools for the 2025-2026 school year, and has maintained a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger for seven of the last ten years.

What truly sets Rainbow Elementary apart is its exceptional academic performance across all subjects and grade levels. For example, 5th-grade science proficiency is 86%, and 4th-grade math is 87%, both significantly higher than the district averages. The school also avoids a common local trend—the "5th-grade math cliff"—where many nearby schools see a sharp drop in math scores. While Casselberry Elementary School sees 4th-grade math proficiency plummet from 74% to 33% in 5th grade, Rainbow's decline is much more moderate, from 87% to 64%. This suggests a highly effective math curriculum and strong support for older students. Additionally, Rainbow achieves these results with a student body where 35% are eligible for free or reduced lunch, a higher percentage than the nearby top-performing Choices In Learning Charter, yet its academic scores remain very competitive.

Beyond test scores, Rainbow Elementary demonstrates remarkable student and family engagement. Its chronic absenteeism rate is just 11.8%, less than half the district rate of 25.3% and far below the state average. The school also uses its resources efficiently, spending $10,398 per student—less than several lower-performing nearby schools like Sterling Park Elementary School and Eastbrook Elementary School. With a decade of stable, high performance, Rainbow Elementary is a reliably excellent choice for families in the area.

Open Quote I have no idea how this is an A rated school. If you expect your child to enter their "gifted" program you may want to choose another school. My son was finally tested in March, after numerous requests since the beginning of the year. Since the school year ends in May, he really is unable to really benefit from the program. I was also quite offended when he came home from school with a mother's day card written in Spanish. I have no problem with him taking Spanish. I think this is great but making a mother's day card in Spanish to give to parents that do not speak Spanish is beyond me. This school will also ask you for money nearly every week for various things. Even their school spirit shirts have advertising on them. I highly discourage any parent that wants their child to be in a gifted program from attending Rainbow Elementary School. Close Quote

Open Quote This school's administration and teaching staff are more interested in getting money from parents than teaching the children. I have requested numerous parent teacher conferences on differentiating my son's learning to match his level. He was is the 99th percentile when he started this year and since has regressed to right about class average. If you want your child to not excel and instead regress towards the mean than this is the school for you. Close Quote
