Summary

Park Vista Community High School in Lake Worth, FL, is a large, high-performing public high school serving 2,881 students in grades 9-12 within the Palm Beach School District. The school stands out for its exceptional graduation rate of 98.3% and very low chronic absenteeism at 13.6%, which is roughly half the district average and far better than many nearby schools like Somerset Academy Canyons High School (34.5% chronic absenteeism) or Palm Beach Preparatory Charter Academy (96% chronic absenteeism).

Academically, Park Vista consistently outperforms district and state averages in most subjects, with strong proficiency rates in Biology 1 (81%), US History (81%), and English Language Arts (76-78%). This performance is notably higher than other large nearby comprehensive high schools like John I. Leonard High School (51% in 10th Grade ELA) and Santaluces Community High (60% in 10th Grade ELA). However, the school has a notable weakness in Algebra 1, where only 40% of students are proficient—well below the district and state averages. This is a consistent trend that parents should be aware of, especially if their child struggles with math.

While Park Vista has maintained a strong 4-star rating and ranks in the top 20-25% of Florida high schools, its state ranking has slowly declined from the 87th percentile in 2016 to the 78th percentile in 2025. It faces increasing competition from newer schools like Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School (already ranked in the 69th percentile) and specialized schools like South Technical Academy, which achieves comparable test scores with a more economically diverse student body. Despite this, Park Vista’s long-standing reputation, stability, and strong overall performance make it a top choice for families in the area.

Open Quote I have one 2007 graduate from PV, one graduating this May, and one starting there this fall. I have always appreciated the quality of the education my children are getting there and we have been there since its opening. We have enjoyed the sports programs, the community involvement of the school, and its consistent pursuit to attain and maintain, high student and school scores in the state rankings. If only all the schools in Palm Beach County could provide this kind of education for our kids! Close Quote
