This school consistently earns top ratings, including a 5-star ranking from SchoolDigger in the 2023-2024 school year, and places in the 88th percentile statewide. One area for potential focus is 5th-grade math, which, while still strong, has been the lowest-performing subject in recent years.

Dr. Phillips is part of a "high-performance corridor" with nearby Bay Meadows Elementary and Palm Lake Elementary, all within about two miles and sharing high test scores and low poverty rates. In contrast, schools like Tangelo Park Elementary and Millennia Elementary, just a few miles away, face significant challenges with higher poverty and lower proficiency. This stark local contrast highlights how neighborhood conditions can heavily influence school performance. Overall, Dr. Phillips Elementary offers a stable, high-quality education with a strong track record of academic excellence and community support.

Open Quote I like the school. I have a third grader and a kindergartener. My third grader is in the gifted class and loves his teacher. He is always happy to go to school. My kindergartener also loves his teacher and is doing well. He is on the young side so I find the curriculum challenging for him at times, but that is better than too easy. They both attend extended day at the school which is very helpful as a working parent. Both of them have made lots of friends. My youngest was picked on once at extended day, but the staff took care of it swiftly and no incidents since then. Close Quote

Open Quote I am very unhappy with this school. My 3rd grader is called horrible things daily by other students. The teachers do nothing to take disciplinary action. It's such a disappointment that a school which is rated so highly can allow their students to fall behind due to bullying issues. It's NEVER appropriate for a 9 year old to be cussing out another 9 year old. Close Quote
