Summary

Manatee School Of Arts/Sciences is a small K-5 elementary school in Bradenton, FL, serving just 111 students within the Manatee school district, where over 72% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

This school stands out for its remarkable recent turnaround, especially in science. In the 2025-2026 school year, 75% of 5th graders were proficient in science—far exceeding the district (59%) and state (60%) averages. This is a dramatic improvement from the previous year and makes the school a top performer in this subject compared to nearby schools like Jessie P. Miller Elementary (64%) and G D Rogers Garden- Bullock Elementary (24%). The school also achieves these results with the lowest spending per student in the area ($10,389), significantly less than Ballard Elementary ($15,311) and Robert H. Prine Elementary ($13,706). Despite this lean budget, Manatee School Of Arts/Sciences now ranks higher (35th percentile) than its closest neighbor, Robert H. Prine Elementary (16th percentile), showing impressive efficiency.

However, the school’s small size creates notable volatility. Performance in reading and math can swing dramatically from year to year—for example, 5th-grade reading proficiency jumped from 13% to 58% in just one year. This means your child’s experience may depend heavily on their specific class. Chronic absenteeism also remains a challenge, with 27.4% of students missing significant school. For parents, this school offers a strong science focus and a tight-knit community, but it’s important to be aware of the potential for inconsistent academic performance across grade levels.

Open Quote This place is a poor excuse for a school. I placed both my children in this school who were both straight A students once they started here I had my children telling me they got very low scores on tests in school & that they could not concentrate because everyone talked and made noises during test. I was never notified from the teachers that my child's grades were poor & I also had conferences during this time & still not notified. Also when my children didn't understand something the teacher would have a student show them how something was done & when that didn't help they were ignored, this school is junk. The principal is rude & talks to children In-appropriately! This school makes you think they are great but really they are junk. Don't ruin your child's education with this joke facility!! Open Quote This school is run by an administrative team that does not appreciate the arts or its teachers. The principal lets her son (also a teacher at the school) run rampant and get away with producing the lowest F-CAT scores in the school (maybe the district). All this could be solved if the administration had accountability. Unfortunately, they are not accountable to the district, and the board of directors is run by... (drum roll please) THE PRINCIPAL!!! I pulled my child from this school, and could not be paid enough to walk through those doors again. They operate behind the facade of an "arts" school, while diminishing the education and future of the youth of our country. Close Quote
