Summary

Sabal Palm Elementary School is a public elementary school in Tallahassee, Florida, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 473 students. The school is part of the Leon District, which is ranked 47 out of 67 districts in Florida and is rated 2 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Sabal Palm Elementary School faces several challenges, including consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, significantly lower test scores compared to the district and state averages, and a very high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 77.8% to 80.08% over the past few years. Despite the school's higher spending per student, ranging from $10,430 to $14,177 per student, its academic performance remains significantly lower than nearby schools, such as The School Of Arts & Sciences Centre, a public charter school that consistently outperforms Sabal Palm in test scores.

The high chronic absenteeism rates at Sabal Palm Elementary School are likely linked to the school's high percentage of students from low-income families, as indicated by the free and reduced lunch rates. This suggests that addressing socioeconomic challenges may be a key factor in improving student attendance and academic performance. The data also raises questions about the effective allocation and utilization of resources to support student learning and achievement at Sabal Palm Elementary School, and the school could potentially benefit from targeted interventions and support to address its specific challenges.
