Summary

Bent Tree Elementary School is a public school in Miami, FL, serving 430 students from Pre-K through 5th grade as part of the Miami-Dade school district, and it stands out for its strong math and science performance, low student-teacher ratio, and high per-student spending.

Bent Tree’s math scores are a major highlight, with 91% of 4th graders proficient in the most recent testing year—well above the district and state averages. This performance even surpasses nearby high-achieving schools like Pinecrest Preparatory Academy and Ethel Koger Beckham K-8 Center in that specific grade. The school also excels in science, with 5th-grade scores consistently outperforming district and state averages over the past four years. While English Language Arts scores have shown some year-to-year fluctuation, the school’s overall academic foundation is solid, earning it a consistent 4-star rating from Schooldigger for eight of the last ten years.

A key differentiator is Bent Tree’s investment in its students. It spends $22,412 per student, the highest among nearby schools—nearly double what Pinecrest Preparatory Academy spends. This funding supports a very low student-teacher ratio of 11.3:1, the lowest in the area, which can mean more individualized attention for your child. The school also manages chronic absenteeism well, with a rate of 16.1% that is significantly better than the district average of 28.2%, though some neighbors like Ethel Koger Beckham K-8 Center have even lower rates. For families seeking a resource-rich, stable environment with strong math and science programs, Bent Tree is a reliable choice that offers a clear advantage over lower-performing peers like Greenglade Elementary School.

Open Quote The school is not the problem, in reality the teachers make the school and I honestly believe this schools got potential. I don't want to throw anyone under the bus BUT being that this is my Daughters 1st year at this school.... it's been tough. When you have a teacher that tells her 3rd grade students that she doesn't care if they want to learn because she is getting paid regardless, it's not good. Again, the school isn't the problem because when there is a problem, they direct the situation right away. It's this one teacher in particular that's really bring the school down. Close Quote
