Summary

Meadow Park Elementary School in Port Charlotte, FL, serves 708 students in grades PK through 5 and is part of the Charlotte district, which holds a 3-star rating. This school has shown a remarkable upward trend over the past decade, climbing from a 2-star rating and the 41st percentile in 2016 to a consistent 3-star rating and the 68th percentile in the 2025-2026 school year, indicating sustained improvement and stable, average performance relative to the state.

Meadow Park’s standout strength is its exceptional math performance, with proficiency rates of 75% in 3rd grade, 77% in 4th grade, and 70% in 5th grade in the 2025-2026 school year—significantly higher than both district and state averages. The school also excels in science, with 67% of 5th graders proficient compared to 54% for the district and 60% for the state. However, English Language Arts (ELA) performance is more volatile and often lags behind, with 5th-grade ELA at 58% in the same year, below the district and state averages. This contrast suggests a highly effective math curriculum that hasn’t been replicated in reading and writing. Additionally, Meadow Park has a lower chronic absenteeism rate (26.4%) than the district (31.2%) and state (31.4%), a positive sign of student engagement.

Compared to nearby Liberty Elementary School, which has similar demographics, Meadow Park significantly outperforms in math and science (e.g., 4th-grade math: 77% vs. 64%) and has better attendance. Against the higher-performing Toledo Blade Elementary School in the Sarasota district, Meadow Park achieves respectable results with lower spending per student ($13,350 vs. $14,895), suggesting efficient resource use. This combination of strong math and science, improving trends, and efficient spending makes Meadow Park a compelling choice for families prioritizing these subjects.

Open Quote I have 2 children that I open enrolled into this school due to our regional school (Peace River Elementary) being a all year round school & having a school uniform policy. For the past 3 years I have been very pleased with this school however this year there have been soo many changes include taking away award ceremonies & coteaching & now my children are bringing home information regarding discussions about next year's school uniforms? I really hope they don't change the dress code for next year to school uniforms or my children will be going to a different school. No I'm not a supporter of school uniforms, I am a supporter of choice. I would like to have the choice of what clothes I put my children in & not be told what they have to wear. My children have autism & if you are a parent of an autistic child then you know that some clothes they can not wear due to material irritation. Most of the uniforms are collared polo shirts & will extremely irritate an autistic child. Close Quote
