Summary

Everglades Elementary School in Weston, FL, is a high-performing public school within the Broward district, serving 823 students from Pre-K through 5th grade in a community where only 12% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. This school has a long track record of excellence, earning a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger every year since 2015-2016 and ranking in the top 4% of all Florida elementary schools, currently placing 88th out of 2,240 schools statewide.

Everglades Elementary’s greatest strength is its exceptional math program, with 5th-grade math proficiency reaching 90% in the most recent school year—far exceeding the district average of 69% and the state average of 62%. This performance is on par with top local peers like Gator Run Elementary School (91%) and Eagle Point Elementary School (95%). However, the school operates in a highly competitive area, and its state ranking has slipped slightly from a peak of 39th in 2022-2023 to 88th, not because of a decline in scores, but because other schools are improving faster. While science scores are strong at 81% (compared to 60% statewide), they lag behind top peers like Eagle Point (92%) and Gator Run (85%), suggesting a focus area for growth.

One area where Everglades differs from its highest-performing neighbors is chronic absenteeism, which sits at 20.2%—better than the district average of 33.6% but higher than Imagine Charter School At Weston (1.1%) and Eagle Point (18.0%). The school achieves strong results with moderate per-pupil spending of $12,443, which is less than some peers like Hawkes Bluff Elementary School ($14,701) but more than others like Gator Run ($10,320). For parents, Everglades offers a consistently excellent education with standout math instruction, though families seeking the absolute top state rankings might also explore Eagle Point or Gator Run, which edge ahead in overall performance and science proficiency.

Open Quote Excellent. I have been at other schools and the leadership role this principal has blows everyone else out of the water. He's highly intelligent, kind and approachable. The office staff is professional and you are always pleasantly and professionally greeted. Students are able to learn and be challenged while still being allowed to be a kid. My kids love this school. Learning is still FUN at this school. Great job Principal Tillinger! Close Quote
