Summary

Sea Park Elementary School in Satellite Beach, FL, is a small, high-performing school serving 308 students in grades PK through 6, and it is part of the Brevard school district.

Sea Park Elementary stands out for its exceptional academic performance, with proficiency rates ranging from 67% to 95% across all subjects and grades in the most recent school year. This is a stark contrast to nearby schools like Dr. W.J. Creel Elementary School, where proficiency rates were as low as 26% in math. The school also boasts a remarkably low chronic absenteeism rate of just 11.1%, compared to the district average of 21.1% and the state average of 31.4%. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 11.8:1, Sea Park offers a more personalized learning environment than many peers, such as Suntree Elementary School (14.8:1) and Ocean Breeze Elementary School (14.1:1).

A particularly interesting strength is the "6th Grade Leap," where 6th graders achieved 95% proficiency in English Language Arts and 90% in math, a significant jump from 5th grade scores. This suggests the school is exceptionally effective at preparing students for middle school. Sea Park has been a 4-star school for nine consecutive years, making it a reliable choice for families. While its per-student spending of $15,456 is the highest among nearby schools, other high-performing schools like Spessard L. Holland Elementary School achieve similar results with less funding, indicating that Sea Park's success is driven by effective resource allocation and a supportive community.

Open Quote Our experience was great until this year. Our son entered 3rd grade and had a teacher that really pushed us to test our son for ADD. Not because he was badly behaved or was failing, but because he had a hard time focusing at times which could get in his way someday. Not enough reason for me to test and/or label him. In addition, the teacher made it her mission to find ways to convince me to take her advice by disecting my child's every move. Also, she was highly belittling to me as well! And negative. For example, I had received my sons mid term report which was ok, but one area he needed to work on. The teacher told me that there would be more tests and I responded by saying,"Great, he has some time to bump that grade up," she responded by saying,"Or time to go down." These are the types of comments I deal with every time I have a conversation with her. We are moving, thank goodness, because I was seriously considering homeschooling. However, Seapark as a whole is fantastic and my experience with this one teacher and her intern who is highly negative as well is not all encompassing regarding how I feel about the whole school.
