Chaparral is the 4th school we’ve had our kids in, and there is no comparison to anything I’ve ever seen! If you grew up in the public school system, as I did, it might be a shock to see how differently they operate, but once you start to see the difference it makes in their personal growth and development, there is no going back to the old system – ever!! The whole setup is designed to teach them how to take responsibility for their own education and decisions. They are taught how to take initiative, how to find answers rather than being told them, how to work together with others, and how to create and discover on their own. The teachers are there to guide and mentor them, and they actually disciple them personally, which does not happen in a big school.

CCCS use a combination of group activities and solo work, but everything is about discovery and understanding, not memorizing answers. There are no desks, no lectures, no standardized testing, and no homework. Instead, they are actually learning how to learn and to function in the real world.

And one of the best parts of this school is the friendship and connection between the families. Most families hang out after school and chat while the kids play. This place is like home, and these are truly our people here in Arizona! And best of all – my kids love school so much they can’t wait to go back by the end of every break! That’s something I never ever experienced as a kid!
