Summary

Bentonville High School is a large, high-performing public high school in Bentonville, AR, serving 3,579 students in grades 9-12 as part of the top-rated Bentonville School District.

This school stands out as the premier comprehensive public high school in Northwest Arkansas, consistently ranking among the top 10 in the state. It achieves strong academic results across the board, with particularly impressive science scores—77% proficiency in Biology, far exceeding the state average of 42.7%. The school also boasts a high graduation rate of 96.0% and a very low dropout rate of 0.7%, showing it effectively supports all students through to graduation. While elite charter schools like Haas Hall Bentonville (ranked #1) achieve even higher test scores, they serve a much smaller, more selective student body. BHS offers a well-rounded, high-quality education to a large and diverse population without the specialized focus or selectivity of a charter school. One interesting area to note is Algebra performance, where BHS scores 46.9% proficiency—strong compared to the state average (36.9%) but lower than the district average (67.6%), suggesting this is a subject where other district schools like Bentonville West High School may excel.

Compared to nearby schools, BHS clearly outperforms those in the Rogers School District, such as Rogers Heritage High School and Rogers High School, which rank significantly lower. It also has a lower percentage of students eligible for free or reduced lunch (14.7%) compared to those Rogers schools (41-50%) and even Bentonville West (21.2%). The school's stability is a key strength—its state rank has remained between 3rd and 9th over the last decade, and its graduation rate has consistently hovered around 94-96%. This consistency, combined with broad-based academic excellence and a favorable student-teacher ratio of 11.6:1, makes BHS a reliable and standout choice for families seeking a top-tier public education.

Open Quote My child was bullied by Christian students for not being Christian and for having Asperger's (autism). The staff did nothing to help my child except blame him for not being tough enough to fight back. In this school, if you're not an athletic Christian with money, you don't matter. Close Quote
