As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I graduated from here in the year 2009. I'm actually about to graduate from high school now. I look back on this school, it makes me really sad to realize some horrible memories. I went here since I was in 1st grade if I remember correctly and it used to be called Palmer. I had different types of classmates. White, hispanic, blacks. It was much more diverse in the early 2000's. But, change was looming to the diverse school. What used to be a calm nurturing environment quickly boiled into a school that could "channel" inner city kids. The times got worse, some teachers quit, others stayed, and it got it's name "Carver Academy." It was more on "academic rigor". I was a shy kid back then and this new concept they were pushing invited little social interaction. Long story short, I didn't grow at all in a social being as I binged on education and had a hard time making friends. Most kids disliked me for not fitting in, and thus I moved far from what some called social. Antisocial maybe, but high school managed to undo all the hurt that was inflicted on me during this time. The red CHAMP's(their sad attempt to make some kids shut the hell up) made little time for me to talk with my peers. Fifteen minute lunch time. Silence, if not you were written up. Once I graduated and move to high school, it was much better. Sure this is from the 2009 perspective, but if it's anything like how it was when I attended, it's still your basic(maybe even a bit below) MPS school. Low income family needing to put kids somewhere? Sure. But don't expect diversity, your kid growing as a person without needing to prove oneself, bad influences from all over Milwaukee, and struggling teacher that may or may not care about their students. It's a daycare basically. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
