As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We are a new Kindergarten family to Adams, our neighborhood school.

Things I like about Adams:

- Excellent communication from the school (website, newsletter)
- Ease of meeting with teachers, principal
- Responsiveness of school to parent/student concerns (community building, bullying, etc.)
- Arts integration program
- Size of school
- Recent PTA initiatives (Playground, murals, rain garden)
- Active parents

Things I don't like about Adams:

- Most of the staff do not seem happy to be there--it seems unfriendly and cold
___

Perhaps this is the climate at all Seattle Public Schools right now (2010-11 School Year, now in Feb '11)? I don't know, I'll be asking friends at different schools about morale and tone/vibe. The morale seems extremely low, and the teachers of elementary children seem downright sour. It's a real downer. Our teacher in particular seems to be experiencing low moral. We all have bad days but most days for this teacher seem to be bad. If you are educating five and six year olds, I'm thinking suck it up and try to seem pleasant at least.

Our child is happy to be at school and was excited to return from mid-winter break, so the "tone" doesn't seem to be bothering our student. But, it is continually worrisome for us as parents. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
