As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The new Principal Melissa Riley is fantastic and we love the teachers here! Had an opportunity to switch schools but we opted to stay since it's a great fit for our family. School ratings really don't do the school justice. Close Quote

Open Quote Our family has been at Kenmore for the last 8 years--we love the school, especially the teachers. They are committed, very competent, and treat all the kids as individuals. The test scores certainly don't reflect the quality of teaching but it does look like they are coming up for the most part. There is good diversity in the school (economic and ethnic) which we think is an asset. Relative to the rest of the District, class sizes are small and the Title 1 status gives them a lot of extra resources that other schools don't have. The PTA is strong and offers a fantastic selection of after school programming and their foreign language program on early release Wednesdays is a stroke of brilliance! The only complaints are that the gym desperately needs a new floor and the soccer field could be nicer, but the playground is really nice and the surroundings (the school Arboretum, Swamp Creek Park, and the expansive campus) are beautiful and make for a nice setting. A new principal is starting this year (2014) and we are excited to see what changes she makes to the school--it's definitely on it's way up! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
