Summary

Columbia Elementary is a public elementary school serving about 600 students from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade in the Mukilteo School District, consistently performing above state and district averages.

Academically, Columbia Elementary stands out in the area, with significantly higher test scores in English, math, and science than most neighboring schools like Odyssey Elementary and Challenger Elementary. It ranks in the top third of all Washington elementary schools and is noted for its particularly strong support for English Language Learners and students in special education. The school achieves these results while spending less per student than several nearby schools with lower performance, such as Fairmount Elementary.

While a high-performing school, Columbia is not the top in the district; schools like Mukilteo Elementary and Endeavour Elementary rank higher. Its performance has been stable over time, though a recent small dip in its statewide ranking and a noted drop in 5th-grade math scores are areas parents may want to ask about. Overall, Columbia Elementary is a consistently above-average school that delivers strong academic outcomes for its students.

Open Quote The school does not offer all day kindergarten. It is 2.5 hours. (what can they do in 2.5 hours)?

We recently moved from CA to WA and placed our daughter in this school. She was in a private school before coming here and is much more advanced. She has been in school for a few days and I have yet to know or understand what they do. I asked my child and she cannot even explain it. I have emailed the teacher and she takes days to get back to you. I do not think the curriculum is spelled out and it is a joke. I am still trying to find out if kindergarten is mandatory in WA. I am considering pulling her out and starting her of with 1st grade. The school should really look at their test scores and make some adjustments. Close Quote
