As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My son unfortunately goes to this school, and it's the primary reason we're in the process of putting our house on the market and moving to a better school district. The Zero out of 5 star ranking seems about right, and the falling rankings the last 4 years seems accurate. From 698th out of 1004 Elementary schools in 2010, to recently 982 out of 1023, it's pitiful.

I understand the school faces a lot of challenges due to the low economic status of a lot of its students, and the high amount of students where English is a second language. They actually do announcements over the intercoms in Spanish.

My son is bored in class, he finishes his weeks’ worth of homework in one night, he's not being challenged or excited in anyway.

Unfortunately I feel this school is only going to get worse, if that's even possible. Hopefully we can get Sunnycrest and the Federal Way SD in our rear view mirror very soon. Close Quote

Open Quote Sunnycrest has added dual language to their educational options. They use both accelerated reader and Fountas & Pinnell reading scales to asses and elevate the learning experience of the student. The staff and leadership at the school put the children's education and well being first. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
