As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I am concerned with how in touch the school is with its facility, and its training of said facility. My son who is in fifth grade, constantly does not want to go to school. I figured he might be being bullied by another child, as he is sensitive and likes to please, but he has so many friends. He has never acted this way in the past going to school; he has always loved school, even creating his own clubs for like-minded children. He does well on his report card. That said, he made me promise "I could not tell anyone" but he is scared of his teacher, which as a mom I knew, I just didn't realize it was this bad. I would call her "high-maintenance with control issues." My child in the past has been "student of the year" for his grade, have won many awards, and has never had a problem with any other teacher, and he has had some hard academic classes. He also has never been in trouble at school, so it is not a behavior issue (plus other facility have commented on how lovely he is to work with, as we do donate our time to the school). I told him I would get him transferred, but he is scared of the repercussions. I know he is this is not an isolated incident, as he tells me others feel the same. He is looking forward to leaving Newport Heights next year. :'-( Close Quote

Open Quote the leadership quality is low... the third grade teacher tried to convince me my son had ADHD by exaggerating his behaviours in the class. Not mentioning even one positive point, she repeatedly talked about my son and I felt frustrated and hopeless.
The staff are rude and discriminate between white and minorities and as an Asian I felt not belonging to the community. Close Quote

Open Quote I share concerns about the new principal this year. The quality of the teachers has been generally high over the years, however the style and quality of the principal's leadership seems to not be conducive to collaboration or positive change within the school community. Close Quote

Open Quote Newport Heights Elementary School has been renovated with all new buildings and a very conducive educational design. A new spirit flows from the administration, teachers, parents, and students and I have observed a positive direction. This is in addition to the fact that this has always been a school bringing together families from the Newport Heights neighborhood, a slightly hidden pocket of Bellevue with above average demographics in terms of educational aptitude. It's new and it's better. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
