As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My daughter went to Manchester High and it changed her life for the better. There are some excellent teachers there who are dedicated, hardworking and hellbent on making a difference with the students. We sent her to the Manchester High School magnet program for mass communication, and she would otherwise have gone to Cosby High School (rated 5 stars by School Digger) and it was the right decision for her. Sure, you need to seek out the good teachers and put some effort into your education if you go there, but there are a lot of great teachers and administrators at Manchester. Also, every high school in Chesterfield has a "specialty program" that your child can apply for in the 8th grade, as well as two Governor's Schools. These accept students countywide, so don't buy a house in a more expensive area just for the school.

The area where Manchester High is located is certainly not affluent, but if you find that this is where you can afford to buy a house, don't worry about sending your child to Manchester. Pete Koste, the principal is fantastic as is Ms. Ellis, the new Assistant Principal. Make your child take Cary Nothnagel for theatre whether or not they think they have any interest in drama. Art and music also have very good programs. The content area teachers in Mass Communications are good, and some are great. There are AP classes and Dual Enrollment classes that are very good and can give students college credits. This school does not deserve zero stars. Unfortunately, it doesn't deserve five either; you need to work too hard to find the great teachers among the mediocre. Close Quote

Open Quote Best kept secret in Chesterfield Co.... Amazing administration, teachers, support staff and student body. The students have several different elective classes to choose from(culinary, arts, business, duel enrollment, AP, music, choir......). Feels like an extended family. There are several after school activities too!
Don't let the test scores fool you.....The success rate of these students AFTER HS is great! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
