Open Quote I feel so grateful for the opportunity to go to Strake Jesuit. After my three years here so far, I now have a very close-knit group of friends that I am sure I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life. I had some problems in my first two years at Jesuit with my grades, but I realized how much effort the faculty there want you to put into your work, and I then excelled this past year. The school is very academically demanding, but I felt that every teacher wanted me to succeed and also wanted to see me grow as a person. The teachers were always willing to give their time for any extra help we needed. In addition to the academic demands, the school is also very competitive athletically. While I have been at Strake Jesuit, we have had three different sports go to state and a couple more go very deep into the playoffs, and we are one of the two private schools in the UIL. There was so much school spirit during those long playoff runs. All the seniors would always have so much energy because the teams were made of their very own friends, and then that same energy would find its way through the entire school. The spiritual aspect of Jesuit is what really puts the school over the top for me. The retreats bring everyone in your grade closer together, and closer to God. The school also created a sense of service to others in me with the service project that every senior is required to do in order to graduate. I completed my project this summer in between junior and senior year. To be honest, I saw another post that someone wrote, and I was surprised that someone could write something about Strake Jesuit like that. I have loved everything about Strake. To say that the buildings are not good enough is to deny all the tradition that they hold. Even if the buildings are old, they are outfitted with technology that surpasses any public high school I have visited. Every classroom at Strake has a SmartBoard, and plenty of room for the students. Within my time here, Strake has also completed building a brand new athletic complex, dining hall, and chapel, and now Strake is finishing up their very own retreat center. I really feel sorry for the student who didn't get everything he could have out of Strake. I personally couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Close Quote

Open Quote This school cares more about their appearance then they do with their students. Teachers care more about you making the school like nice to others including your parents then actually teaching you. If your son is not the smartest guy around (be honest with yourself) don't send him here. My parents made that mistake and I hate the school, hate the teachers, and hate the overall atmosphere. My grades are dropping and I'm up untill 12-1 am every night trying to study and raise my grade. I don't even have a social life anymore because of all the work I have to do on the weekends as well. I will never send my son to this hell hole. By the way parents, Strake doesn't show you all of their facilities. It's mostly buildings from the 60s that smell like a cat died. Lamar has better facilities. The only buildings they show you are the ones they want you to see. Close Quote
