Summary

Sageland Elementary is a public elementary school in El Paso, Texas, serving 655 students in grades PK-5 and part of the Ysleta Independent School District (ISD). This high-performing school consistently outperforms the district and state averages on STAAR tests, with strong results in both reading and math. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, Sageland's 3rd grade reading proficiency rate was 64.38%, compared to 60.69% for Ysleta ISD and 52.02% for Texas.

Sageland Elementary's success extends beyond overall test scores, with the school ranking in the top quartile of Texas elementary schools for its Hispanic and English Language Learner (ELL) student populations. The school's special education and at-risk students also perform well, ranking in the top half of Texas elementary schools. However, the school's gifted and talented student population lags behind, ranking in the bottom quartile. Despite serving a high-needs population, with 89.77% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, Sageland has been able to maintain strong academic performance, suggesting effective strategies for supporting students from low-income backgrounds.

When compared to other nearby elementary schools within the Ysleta ISD, Sageland Elementary stands out as a high-performing school. For instance, Eastwood Heights Elementary and Vista Hills Elementary have consistently higher test scores and statewide rankings than Sageland. This suggests that Sageland Elementary may have unique strengths or strategies that contribute to its success, which could be valuable for other schools in the district to learn from.

Open Quote This school would be better if they just changed the principal. She is not respectful and very rude towards the parents. She has no people skills and that is very sad because thanks to our kids and our community she has a job. She should really think about that next time she is being disrespectful to grandparents and parents at school. Close Quote
