As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Watts Elementary is located in a wonderful school district. From my experience the educators themselves are excellent. The Principal seems caring and does her best to communicate with parents. However, I gave the school two stars because of some very grave concerns. While, they have many programs in place for students and parents I believe a lot of it is for show. They also seem to rely heavily on testing and I feel that young children aren't prepared for this. This isn't something I expected from a Texas school as they do not follow common core. Unfortunately, they place a lot of pressure on students to preform at test level at very young ages. I am most of all not happy with the support staff. They are VERY rude and condescending. They have no concern for students or parents. Unforuntatley, support staff can make or break a school experience. For our family and others we know there have been some concerns about the support staff for a while now. They make it VERY hard to access the principal or vice principal as well which only makes the situations worse. We even tried to report an abuse concern and were turned away. I honestly realized at that point that the school was simply there to "educate" children, produce reports and check the box beyond that they really have no regard for our child. While the district may be one of the best in the area I will see that they don't always employeee the best staff. Close Quote

Open Quote This is an amazing school, that is jam packed with wonderful teachers and faculty. The principle is fully invested in the success of each and every student, and knows them by name. I can not say enough good things about this school. I wish every child could attend an elementary school like Watts. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
