Summary

Castle Hills Elementary is a public elementary school serving 448 students in grades PK-5 in the North East Independent School District (NEISD) in San Antonio, Texas. The school has consistently maintained a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger, ranking in the top 15% of Texas elementary schools.

Castle Hills Elementary is a high-performing school that consistently outperforms its district and state counterparts, particularly in academic achievement. The school's 3rd graders had a 78.08% proficiency rate in STAAR Reading, compared to 58.67% for the NEISD district and 52.02% for the state. Castle Hills also excels in the performance of various student subgroups, ranking in the top 5% of Texas elementary schools for White students and Gifted and Talented students, and in the top 15% for Hispanic students and Low Socioeconomic Status students. The school's relatively low student-teacher ratio and higher per-student spending may contribute to its strong academic results.

While Castle Hills Elementary outperforms nearby NEISD schools like Larkspur Elementary, Harmony Hills Elementary, and Olmos Elementary, it faces stiff competition from top-performing charter schools in the area, such as Basis San Antonio - Pri North Central Campus and Eleanor Kolitz Hebrew Language Academy. Maintaining and potentially improving upon its current level of excellence will be crucial for Castle Hills Elementary to continue providing a high-quality education to its diverse student population.

Open Quote Not impressed!

My kid was performing in the citywide "The nutcracker" at Tobin center this year which Lee High school choir was there performing as well.

On the school performance day, which was a school day, Lee high school was not performing. They were there to watch the performance for a field trip.

We informed the teacher 3 days ahead presenting with an excused letter from Ballet San Antonio. But my kid was marked as "unexcused absence". From teacher, to principal, to district employee, and the superintendent of NEISD, said they were rules bond. Here is the rules:

Youth programs not associated with the District, including but not limited to, athletics, cheerleading, dance, theater, fine arts, and other similar programs

The reason that Lee students are excused, because the rules say:
Attending a special school function, without a school sponsor
and identified by the District.

I said the district has double standard. Accordingly, this activity must have been identified by the district, and so, it is not a youth program anymore.

There are times when we should think for ourselves and not obey every rule blindly. If they cannot see that, they are not good enough to impress me! Close Quote
