Summary

Crockett Elementary is a public magnet elementary school serving 551 students in grades PK-5 in the Houston Independent School District (HISD). The school's performance has fluctuated over the past decade, with its statewide ranking ranging from a high of 865 out of 4,329 Texas elementary schools in 2016-2017 to a low of 3,225 out of 4,647 in 2022-2023. Currently, Crockett Elementary has a 2-out-of-5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Crockett Elementary generally performs below the HISD and Texas state averages on STAAR assessments, particularly in mathematics. For example, in 2024-2025, only 36.71% of 3rd graders were proficient or better in STAAR Math, compared to 47.47% for HISD and 44.88% for Texas. However, the school does show some strengths, such as 5th grade reading proficiency reaching 77.78% in 2024-2025, well above the HISD and state averages. The school also struggles with its special education and gifted/talented student populations, ranking in the bottom 10-20% of Texas schools for those subgroups.

When comparing Crockett Elementary to other nearby HISD elementary schools, such as Field Elementary, Travis Elementary, and Harvard Elementary, Crockett generally underperforms. These nearby schools have significantly higher test scores and statewide rankings than Crockett Elementary. Additionally, Crockett has a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, with 64.07% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch in 2023-2024, which is significantly higher than the state average and may contribute to the school's academic challenges.

Open Quote Do not send your kid to this school! Last year my son only learned reading and math. Those were the STAAR subjects for 3rd grade. He got no history or writing! And they make them sit silent during lunch. My son cried every day asking me to not make him go. Now he go to a good school and he loves his teachers. Close Quote

Open Quote Crockett is a toxic place where excellent teachers get burned out due to the leader's lack of leadership. She claims to be a christian but fails to display those principles in her attitude and her inappropriate attire (tight clothes like she's going to the club). Close Quote
