As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I moved here 6 years ago and my eldest attended his final year at this school, along with my middle aged daughter. And two years later, my youngest attends. So I have witnessed teachers, administrators, and all other staff throughout each of the grades. I have been nothing but happy with the school. Any time there was a problem, from bullying to academic issues....all was addressed accordingly and to my satisfaction. I am now looking to move from an apartment, to my own home and I'm struggling to find the right home that will keep my youngest in this school. My two eldest children are in middle/high school now...but I refuse to move my youngest away from this lovely school. I highly recommend it! Close Quote

Open Quote We LOVE this school. My children went to Matzke and I moved back to this area just so my grandchildren could go there. The teachers are open and always responsive. The communication with myself and the teachers as well as my grandchildren and their teachers is fantastic. BUT, I make this communication MY priority too. I am actively involved in their academics and I don't leave it up to the teachers to do everything. Their approach to learning works - and works well! If a student is struggling, they work with them. If a student is bored, they challenge them. The teachers and faculty CARE about the students and it shows. It shows in the smiles on my grandchildrens faces when they get off the bus. It shows in their ability to read in kindergarten. It shows in their ability to write and do math in kindergarten.
They are healthy, well rounded children. They had 40 minutes for lunch last year and 45 minutes for recess. They also had PE, music and art.
Sorry but they're not going to school for recess. They can play at home. They are going to school to learn and that's what they do at Matzke. They learn in a very caring, supportive environment. Close Quote

Open Quote The administration is focused solely on the school ranking and TAKS scores. This is evident by the cut in RECESS and cut in large group (PE/MUSIC/ART) which means that students now don't meet the state of Texas Physical Activity mandate so they run laps in place of Art/Music in addition to the shorter classes in these areas. The school has lost sight of the overall well being of the children and we are disappointed in the direction this school is heading. Not sure if the decline is because this school is now Title 1 or because of the administration changes, either way, we wouldn't recommend this school. Especially since there are other CyFair schools who do more to make school both academically challenging as well as caring about the students overall wellbeing. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
