As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Evans SES is a school where every staff member knows every student whether or not that student is in their classroom. The students at Evans know that their teachers and administrators are there to support them through every step of their elementary school journey (and beyond). The Mighty Mustangs are groomed to be lifelong learners. Close Quote

Open Quote I have taught at Evans for 5 years! This is the best school to work for! The students and other staff members have become family. I love coming to work Monday-Fridays just as much as I love the weekends! We are a smaller campus which is great because it gives the us the opportunity for more one-on-one instruction and the ability to really grow and strengthen our relationships with our students. Open Quote I am a second grade teacher here at Evans Elementary and I enjoy working here! This has been my first year teaching and everyone has made me feel so welcome. When I come to work, it feels like I am coming home to my family. My students especially show so much love! This school is where I am meant to be! Close Quote

Open Quote As someone who is not from Corpus Christi and started student teaching here at George Evans Elementary, I have always felt welcomed as part of the Evans family. I started student teaching in Fall of 2020 in the midst of covid and virtual learning. The effort that these teachers give to their students is truly amazing. My mentor teacher Mrs. Guerrero never gave up on pushing students to success. It is now Spring of 2021 and I am currently working at this school as both a Tutor and Substitute and it has by far been my favorite school that I have had the pleasure to work with. From the students to the staff, we really are a family at Evans! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
