As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote They don't deserve one star but you have to give them one to rate them. My grandson has been verbally, mentally and physically attacked at this school. They ignored the times he reported the abuse, didn't even bother to document they happened. Then the topper was he was physically assaulted in the gym (fractured nose) which was recorded by a bunch of little hooligans while they egged the attacker on. My daughter, son-in-law and his Aunt (who happens to be an ISD Superindent) had a meeting with the principal. Her suggestion, move the attacked child to a different school instead of moving the attacker. I would not send my dog to this school. Close Quote

Open Quote The school itself is an average school if we are looking at it from a normal "education stand point" the fine arts program isn't all that it's choked up to be but it isn't that bad but one reasion this school is not a good option is because the teachers or any of the principles for that matter couldn't care less about their students all they care about are test scores which aren't even that high. The assistant principles and head principle are only power hungry and target sertant students and don't care about actual reasons to prey on a student or give them a punishment i would know one excuse students hear alot is "because i said so" which is something not even a student would say. Teachers and prinicples there only care about their scores and not the students killing creativity and equality. They treat students differently meaning they praise some "smarter" students and leave the other students that need a little bit more help or attention to rot and never improve because of their lack of understanding for the students need and to know all students need different things. i will not call any teacher out but i will say this assistant principles and the math and reading teachers (a select few) are the ones who insult students! degrade students! and ignore their needs! in conclusion this school will only degrade your child if your child needs extra help or isn't the best behaving child. Open Quote Over the last 8 years I had 3 children attend Covington and I saw how the teachers and principals created a school culture of creativity and caring. And then in my last 2 years I saw how the Fine Arts classes, especially Theater, exploded. I am so lucky my daughter had been a part of the Theater, Band, and Art classes at Covington.

Also, I'm an academic intervention tutor who's worked with hundreds of students and attended parent teacher conferences at many different schools. In comparison, Covington teachers are the best; they respond to us, parents, our comments and suggestions. They understand what it is to individualize instruction for students who have dyslexia and ADHD, plus they value students who come from different backgrounds and experiences. They possess a combination of high expectations and warmth that has helped my 2 dyslexic sons and my ADHD daughter thrive and become successful in middle school, high school, and now college. I can't help but be grateful for all they've done for me, my children, and all the students! Close Quote

Open Quote Do not expect any form of communication from the faculty at this school. They are condescending and rude to parents. They do not follow IEPs, communicate with parents or work with the student at all, regardless if the student is an honor student or challenged. If the student does not fit in the box, they will have problems. Even the teachers are bullies. One teacher stated that so long as the students did exactly what she told them to do, there would be no problems. There is no creativity, no expression allowed at this school, from the ridiculous dress code to interaction with the students. There are a few good teachers, but they are limited in what they can do in such a restrictive environment. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
